WordPress Security Plug-in: Wordfence
I choose to use WordFence as my security plug-in, because after researching security plug-ins I found that it address the most items regarding security.
Purpose of the Plug-in:
WordPress is one of the most widely used website platforms, because of this it makes it a frequent target for hackers. Wordfence helps reduce the risk of attacks by monitoring threats and strengthening the security of your site by acting like a security guard for your website. It helps by prevent hacking attempts, scanning for malware, and alerting you about potential security problems.
Items it addresses:
- It creates a firewall that blocks malicious traffic before it reaches your site
- It scans your files and site for malware, infected files and unauthorized core WordPress files
- It improves your login security by offers two-factor authentication
- It sends you notifications when a vulnerability is discovered, plug-ins or themes need updates, or when specious activity is detected
