Shinedown: Attention! Attention!
Shinedown is one of the bands I have enjoyed seeing live the most. Over the years, I have been to many of their concerts—from large outdoor festivals to small acoustic shows featuring only the lead singer and guitarist—and everything in between. Because of that, getting the opportunity to actually meet them was something I had been hoping for. The band consists of Brent Smith (lead vocalist), Zach Myers (guitar), Barry Kerch (drums), and Eric Bass (piano).
When meet-and-greet tickets were released for their Attention! Attention! Tour stop at the Brown County Arena in Green Bay, I jumped at the chance to get them. This was before the area later became part of the Resch Expo complex, and it felt like the perfect opportunity to finally meet one of my favorite bands.
On the day of the concert, everyone with meet-and-greet tickets had to arrive early to check in and go through security. After that, we were ushered into a backstage area where we waited for the band to arrive. Eventually, we were lined up and the band members came out to greet everyone. To keep things moving smoothly, they split into two groups on each side of the room.
Each band member took time to talk with fans, sign autographs, and take selfies. What stood out the most was how down to earth they all were. The conversations felt natural, almost like talking with friends rather than meeting a famous band. At one point Brent Smith even asked me if I wanted a hug, which made the experience even more memorable.
After everyone had a chance to get autographs, fans were called up in small groups to take a professional photo with the band in front of their backdrop. Once the meet-and-greet ended, we were given early access to the merchandise stands and allowed onto the floor before the rest of the crowd entered. Because of that, we were able to secure spots right at the front of the stage.
Overall, meeting the band was an amazing experience. They truly seemed to enjoy interacting with their fans and made everyone feel welcome. If you ever get the opportunity to meet them, I would highly recommend it.
