Volbeat: Let's Boogie!

Volbeat is a band from Denmark whose catchy songs resonate with people all over the world. The band consists of Michael Poulsen (vocals, guitar), Rob Caggiano (guitar), Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass), and Jon Larsen (drums).

I had the chance to meet them during their Let’s Boogie Tour, which stopped at the Milwaukee Bucks stadium in Milwaukee, WI. To attend the meet-and-greet, we had to arrive early and enter through a side entrance after going through security. Everyone who signed up to meet the band gathered in a back hallway, where we waited what felt like forever before anything started.

Eventually, we were escorted into a room for a question-and-answer session with the band members. After the Q&A, we formed a line again to meet them individually, get our passes signed, and take a photo. The meeting itself was nice, but the band members were not overly talkative. While I believe they do enjoy meeting their fans, the interaction did not feel like a standout experience, possibly due to differences in cultural norms. One thing I did find interesting was hearing their Danish accents more clearly while talking with them, since it is harder to notice when listening to their songs.

After the autographs and photos, we were escorted down to the stage. We were able to walk onto the stage, see their entire set up close, and even take a photo with one of their guitars. That part of the experience was very cool and something most fans never get the chance to see.

Overall, I did enjoy the opportunity to meet them, especially since they do not tour in the U.S. very often. However, the experience felt a little rushed, and much of our time was spent waiting. If I ever had the chance to do it again, I would hope there were fewer people so there would be more time to interact with the band.
